THE STORY
Every year in the summer, my brother and I would jump into my grandparents’ car and drive 3 hours south to a little village called 𝘗𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘊𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘶𝘦 ⛵.
We knew we were close when we’d press our face against the window and see dozens of flamingos flying over our heads or standing on one leg in their pond, staring at us – 𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮…?
Have you ever realized that as a kid, you never realise how beautiful a place is? It’s not that you take it for granted. It’s just that it’s there, and it’s all you know.
Now I realise how lucky we were to spend our summers in this little studio with bunk beds, just a tiny path up from to the sand dunes and the sea, where we’d meet the same friends every year and make unforgettable memories.
The name of this painting came to my brother after a brainstorming session the other day, and it’s a perfect reminder of these childhood times together.
