THE STORY
This spring beauty came to life by mixing my two favorite techniques : collage and acrylic painting. It might be hard to realise it at first sight – and that’s what makes the artwork unique – but half of the canvas is pieces of magazines and half is acrylic paint.
I am an experimental artist, which means I refuse to stick to one style and instead spend hours in my studio trying out new techniques, mediums… I created this mixed-media piece during the corona lockdown in 2020, when we were forced to stay inside while flowers were blooming outside. I went almost every day for long walks in the fields next to my home and felt connected to Nature like never before. Our Nature was finally breathing again and seemed even more colorful and joyful than before.
That’s what triggered the creation of “Ode to Spring”, the first of a series of 3 floral mixed-media artworks.
